TCA adjusts the competition of the 5th “Howe Cycling,

TCA adjusts the competition of the 5th “Howe Cycling, Combating COVID-19” on Sunday May 17  to be divided into age groups of men and women. In order not to be having advantages and disadvantages, “General Decha” revealed that it is to give an opportunity to the elderly to participate in the competition and ready to provide a trophy for every category. There will be live on the Facebook fan page of the Thaicycling Association. Viewers at home will win smartwatch prizes from Osotsapa and T-shirts from the Office of Thai Health Promotion Foundation (THPF).


“Seth Muek” General Deja Hemkrasri, President of Thai Cycling Association (TCA) under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King,  revealed that the TCA has organized “Howe Cycling, Combating COVID-19” project to encourage people to exercise at their own homes during the outbreak of the COVID-19 with online cycling or E-Cycling through the "Zwift" platform continuously.   The first start on April 13 was divided into categories for healthy riding categories that has given the general public an opportunity to cycle with Thai national riders every Thursday at 6pm, there is a live on Facebook, Thaicycling Association Bicycle Fan Page. Other competitive categories were in the format of the races. There are classified in  A, B, C levels according to the strength of each person every Sunday. This has been televised live by Thai PBS Television and on Facebook PBS's Facebook page at 14.00-16.00 pm.


 General Decha said that the “Howe Cycling, Combating COVID-19” activity, at the present, had a good response from cyclists around the country. On each day of the competition, there were more than 400,000 views on Thai PBS's Facebook fan page and the number of participants each time was hundreds of people. These numbers were in accordance with the objectives of Office of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (THPF), one of main sponsors of the TCA that wanted people to exercise during their stay at home. It was likely to increase in popularity due to the large number of people inquiring at the TCA.


President of the TCA went on to say that For the 5th “Howe Cycling, Combating COVID-19” scheduled to take place on Sunday May 17 will be slightly modified from the original one. Because the TCA would like to give the opportunity to the elderly riders to join in on the demand. However, in order not to be too advantageous, participants will be divided into the following age groups: Men’s Open will be 30-39 year-old men, 40-49-year-old men and 50-year-old men and older, Women’s Open and Women’s Open will be 30-year old and over. Anyone who was interested can apply and register via the Zwift platform. Each age group will have an honor shield from the President of the TCA delivered to home. The top three winner of The Open both men and women will have a shield, while other groups will have a shield to those who rank 1-5, except for the top ten of 30 years old.  The national team riders can only apply for the Open. At the same time, participants of all ages are also eligible to receive an award in the Open. If their ranking are better.


 “Coach Tum” FS1 Wisut Kasiyapat, the head of the Thai national team and one of the working groups of  “Howe Cycling, Combating COVID-19”" revealed that the route to compete on Sunday May 17 will be announced later soon.
