Thai Cycling Association prepares to organize Thailand Track Championships, Round 1 on June 12-14 at the Vlodrome, Hua Mak, Bangkok, putting strict measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.  At the same time, riders, officials and all parties involved must download the “ Morchana = Doctor won” application because they can check the information on how much risk each person has.  If anyone does not, that person will not be allowed to compete in. “Seth. Muek” has the sympathy for riders and clubs that are in trouble, therefore, to stop the application fees on the first 2 rounds and to set up a “to cycle for sharing happiness” box for riders within the Velodeome as a remedy.  The final round will be broadcast live via the Thaicycling Association Facebook Fan Page from 10.00-12.00 AM.

General Decha Hemkasri, President of Thai Cycling Association (TCA) revealed that after the government and the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) relaxed the measures to prevent the spread of COVID -19.  Outdoor and individual sports are permitted to race. Therefore, the TCA is preparing The Queen's Royal Millennium “Queen Sirikit’s Cup Thailand Track Championships 2020. The first round is on June 12-14 and the 2nd one is on June 26-28 at the Velodrome Hua Mak, Bangkok.

General Decha said that, however, the TCA must also strictly comply with the public health measures of the CCSA and the Department of Health, along with requesting an approval for the competition from the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).  The TCA has put in place measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 as follows:

1. Riders, officials, trainers of every club, including commissaires, officials of the TCA must download the “Morchana = Doctor won” application to the mobile phone to check the risk of getting the virus.  If anyone does not download the application “Doctor won”, that person will not be allowed to participate in the competition and not to enter the area of the track.

2. Before entering the Velodrome, everyone must show an evidence of application "Doctor won" to the inspection staff, 3. Everyone must pass the temperature measurement and to fill in all personal information, 4. Everyone must wear a mask at all times except during a warm-up and during the competition, 5. No spectators are allowed on the stands. The rights are only reserved to riders who participate in the competition, 6. No persons with symptoms such as fever, coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, sore throat or gasp for breath are absolutely prohibited to enter the Velodrome, 7. To avoid conversations at a close range or to talk more than necessary while being in the Velodrome, 8. To space with other people (Social distancing) not less than 2 meters throughout the time in the Velodrome.

9. To wash your hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol gel and to avoid unnecessary touches of hands, face, eyes, mouth, nose, 10. The TCA  will prepare gel alcohol to wash hands as needed at various points throughout the Velodrome, 11. Do not spit or blow snot on the ground as it may cause infection via secretions, 12. Everyone must comply with the rules and regulations strictly set by the TCA  If anyone violates, they may be asked to leave the race or to leave the Velodrome immediately.


The President of the TCA said that these 12 measures will be strictly adhered to during the outbreak of the covid-19 virus. After entering the normal situation, it will revert to the old rules.  And that the TCA asks all relevant parties to download the "Doctor won" application is to check the preliminary information on how much each person is at risk of getting infected with the COVID-19.  As for the competition, the TCA will choose to organize only events that are not close and there is no clash.

General Decha continues that the TCA will increase the new format for the master category with an age group of 35-44 years old and the age over 45 years, but this master will only compete for 1 km time trial and Individual Pursuit. The TCA is currently drafting provisional rules in order to send details to clubs, members, and riders foe acknowledgment.  The first round of the competition, scheduled on Sunday June 14, will be broadcast live via the Thaicycling Association Facebook Fan Page from 10.00-12.00 AM so that viewers can follow and cheer riders at home without having to travel to the Velodrome.


In addition, the President of the TCA also revealed that because Thailand is currently in the situation of the epidemic of the COVID-19, the TCA has sympathy for its members. The Organizing Committee, therefore, resolved that the first 2 rounds will not collect application fees. Moreover, the TCA will set up a “to cycle for sharing happiness” box (Pan Pansuk) at the Velodrome, containing lunch boxes, drinking water, ready-to-eat food, fruits and various consumables to service   for whole 3 days to heal and assist riders or officials who suffered during the epidemic of the COVID-19.  Riders or officials who have the power of money will join to bring food, beverages and essentials to fill in the “Happy Sharing Box” as well, this will help in this crisis of the COVID-19.
