"General Decha" said that the executive committee of Thai Cycling Association (TCA) has  discussed with the technical department and various parties concerned to resolve on October 6-16 in this year, because it has the least impact and is consistent with the competition with other neighboring countries in the same region.  While Thai riders will have the opportunity to compete in the footsteps of the professional riders of the UCI team again, the competition “Home Cycling, Combating COVID-19” for the 4th time, have the people flocked to watch on Facebook of Thai PBS over 400,000 views. The results of this time were that "Puchong - Varinthorn" of Thai national riders, have won the championships.


General Decha Hemkasri, President of the TCA, revealed that the TCA, as the organizer of the International road race both for Men and women Distance Cycling Tour "The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Cup Tour of Thailand 2020" received an urgent consultation from the Road Department from the UCI with regards to a new schedule of "Tour of Thailand 2020"mwhich was originally postponed from April 1-10, 2020 to August 1-10 due to the spread of the COVID-19 that affected the whole world.  


General Decha said that based on the consideration of the UCI and the race organizers in each region, the road department of the UCI has proposed three new racing periods in October 2020 to the TCA as a way to select.  In each period, riders can travel across the country to participate in competitions in other countries in the same region which will benefit the travel expenses of each team.  Each period that the UCI has sent to choose from is as follows: the first session was on October 6-16, the second one was on October 20-29 and the third one was on October 22-31.


 "According to the 3 options of the road plan set by the UCI, the executive committee, having already consulted with the technical department and various parties involved in the race, therefore,  has resolved to choose a new race period for Tour of Thailand on October 6-16, because it has the least impact, and at the same time it is more consistent with the competition more important than other periods.  By this new schedule,  the Men’s Tour will be on October 6-11 which will begins after the competition of Tour of Malaysia ended 2 days, while Women’s Tour of Thailand will start on October 14-16 and will end 3-day before the Tour of Guangxi Tour, one day race of UCI Women WorldTour in China. And aside from the Tour of Guangzhou, China has also confirmed that Tour of Zhongming Island which before this, is still a problem in UCI Women’s WorldTour, will definitely organize the competition between October 23-25. In this regard, Thai riders will have the opportunity to compete with professional riders of the professional team of once again," said General Decha.

However, General Decha has added that the TCA has already sent a letter confirming the decision to postpone the date of "Tour of Thailand 2020" to the UCI.  At the same time, the TCA is in the process of adjusting its calendar for the period after unlocking travel and outdoor activities according to government policies again. It is expected to be officially announced by May 15. This,  when all is complete, will be reported to the relevant departments and club members, including the Sports Authority of Thailand.  The route of the "Tour of Thailand 2020" is still the same as the men's tour during October 6-11 starting from Samut Songkhram - Phetchaburi - Prachuap Khiri Khan - Chumphon - Ranong and to end in Surat Thani with a total distance 1,045 km. As the Women’s tour of Thailand will ride three stages during October 14-16within Surat Thani with a total distance 261.90 km.


The competition “Home Cycling, Combating COVID-19” for the 4th time on Sunday May 10 that the TCA has joined with the Office of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (THPF) and Thai PBS television station, has been divided into the level A, B and C. It appeared that the general public is interested in riding with national riders and famous riders from many teams, a total of more than 300 people.  There was a live broadcast on Thai PBS from 14.00-16.00, including on Facebook of Thai PBS fan page, and Facebook of the Thaicycling Association Bicycle Sports Association.

The male riders rode on Watopia Figure 8 Loop, as the female riders competed on the tour for all in New York City.   The winners of top three of level A and 1-10 winners of levels B and C will receive an honor shield from General Decha Hemkasri, President of the TCA.


The results of the competition were as follows: The male winner of Level A was "Bass" Sgt. Phuchong Saiudomsin, a Thai national rider, 2nd place was Peter Pulley (Training Camp Peter (TCP), 3rd place was Valentini Midy (Roojai.com). The female winner of Level A was "Ploy" Warinthorn Peppraphan, 2nd place was "Angun" Kurachai Chairin and 3rd place was  "Beaze" Lt. Jutatip Maneephan. The results of other competitions can be followed on the website of the Bicycle Sports Association www.thaicycling.or.th. 

General Decha said that the project “Home Cycling, Combating COVID-19” is an increasingly popular activity. It can be seen that hundreds of men and women from around the country participating in cycling.  The TCA has added an award to Level C for another 10 due to a large number of requests from home riders.  And some people were extremely proud because it iwas the first prize in their lives. The TCA inviteed home riders, including the general public to take part in the project that did not require expensive equipment or be regarded as the sport of rich people, anyone who had a little money, can enjoy it. While the top viewers through Facebook of Thai PBS this week has been a landslide with more than 400,000 views, excluding television and YouTube. This has caused a voice calling in to the TCA that it wanted to have a continuous competition and Thai PBS live broadcast every week.


“In addition, I have good news to inform you that after I have the idea to make the route in Thailand in the Zwift platform which will be the Ratchadamnoen Avenue, Road around Rattanakosin Island, including routes in the north part such as Doi Inthanon, Doi Suthep, routes in southern part in Surat Thani or Phuket and a specific competition registered in Thailand. I, therefore, have sent a letter to Mr. David Lappartient, President of the UCI, to help coordinate with the Zwift. The President of the UCI has informed the TCA to contact Zwift's top executives directly. When we contacted the CEO of the Zwift platform, he  replied that It is amazing that Thai people come to ride online cycling with this Zwift platform so much. And he also said that he asked the TCA to respond within 8 weeks to start this dicussion. Therefore, the likelihood that the route of Thailand will be in Zwift platform is the first nation in Asia is high,”said General Decha.
