"Two Wheels" has hired a professional mountain bike coach with a Level 4 certification from the International Cycling Federation (UCI) to intensively train mountain bike cross-country riders for the 20th Asian Games in Japan. The coach will be observing the athletes' performance at the 3rd round of the 2026 Thailand Road and Mountain Bike Championships, held at Khao Phraya Doen Thong Subdistrict Municipality, Lopburi Province, from March 6-8. "Colonel Mook" revealed that mountain bike riders who perform well and demonstrate outstanding skill in the 3rd round have a chance to be called up to reinforce the Thai national team for the Asian Games. Meanwhile, Surasak Jermsum, Mayor of Khao Phraya Doen Thong Subdistrict Municipality, has transformed the mountain bike downhill course into a beautiful and challenging competition venue.
"General Decha Hemkrasri," Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation (ACF), and President of the Cycling Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, revealed that the Cycling Association of Thailand, in collaboration with the Khao Phraya Doen Thong Subdistrict Municipality in Phatthananikhom District, Lopburi Province, will organize the third leg of the 2026 Thailand Road Cycling Championships for the King Bhumibol Royal Trophy and the Thailand Mountain Bike Championships for the King's Royal Trophy. The event will take place at Khao Phraya Doen Thong Subdistrict Municipality from March 6-8, 2026, utilizing routes within the municipality for both road and mountain bike events. The Cycling Association of Thailand has already assigned Petty Officer 1st Class Seri Ruangsiri, the national mountain bike team coach, to prepare the race routes for the downhill, cross-country, and eliminator categories.
“สำหรับเส้นทางแข่งขันรายการดาวน์ฮิลจะปล่อยตัวจากเนินเขาลูกแรกของเขาพระยาเดินธง ระยะทางลงจากยอดเขาถึงเส้นชัยประมาณ 1.2 กิโลเมตร ซึ่งเป็นเส้นทางที่ท้าทายความสามารถของนักปั่น รวมทั้งมีอุปสรรคทั้งหินก้อนใหญ่ และเนินกระโดดก่อนเข้าเส้นชัย ดังนั้นนักปั่นต้องใช้ทักษะสูงพอสมควร ในการทำสนามจักรยานเสือภูเขาในครั้งนี้ได้รับความร่วมมือจาก นายสุรศักดิ์ เจิมสม นายกเทศมนตรีตำบลเขาพระยาเดินธง ในการสนับสนุนด้านเครื่องจักรและคนงานเพื่อเนรมิตให้เป็นสนามแข่งขันที่ดีที่สุด ที่สำคัญเป็นเส้นทางที่สวยงามท่ามกลางธรรมชาติอย่างแท้จริง” พลเอกเดชา กล่าว
พลเอกเดชา กล่าวอีกว่า ส่วนเส้นทางประเภทถนนก็เป็นเส้นทางที่นักปั่นต้องใช้ทักษะสูงเช่นเดียวกัน เพราะมีทั้งทางราบที่ใช้ความเร็วสูง และทางขึ้นยอดเขาพระยาเดินธงที่เป็นเส้นชัยบริเวณจุดชมวิว 270 องศา ซึ่งก่อนหน้านี้สมาคมกีฬาจักรยานฯ และเทศบาลเขาพระยาเดินธงได้ร่วมกันจัดการแข่งขันจักรยานเสือภูเขาทางเรียบ และประเภทถนน “ไทยแลนด์ โอเพ่น” ชิงแชมป์ประเทศไทย ชิงถ้วยพระราชทานฯ ประจำปี 2569 สนามที่ 1 เมื่อวันที่ 14-15 กุมภาพันธ์ที่ผ่านมา และเส้นชัยทั้ง 2 ประเภทก็อยู่บนยอดเขาพระยาเดินธง บรรดานักปั่นที่เข้าร่วมแข่งขันต่างชื่นชอบเป็นอย่างมาก และยกให้เป็นเส้นทางแข่งที่สนุกและโหดมาก เพราะต้องใช้พละกำลังและความทรหด หากใครฝึกซ้อมมาไม่ดีอาจจะไปไม่ถึงเส้นชัย
“เสธ.หมึก” เปิดเผยอีกว่า สมาคมกีฬาจักรยานฯ ได้จ้าง มร.โรเบิร์ต เฮอร์เบอร์ จูเนียร์ โค้ชเสือภูเขามืออาชีพชาวอเมริกันที่ผ่านการอบรมขั้นสูงสุด LEVEL 4 ของสหพันธ์จักรยานนานาชาติ (UCI) ให้มาติวเข้มนักกีฬาจักรยานทีมชาติไทยประเภทเสือภูเขาชุดเตรียมเอเชียนเกมส์ ครั้งที่ 20 ซึ่งจะแข่งขันกันในช่วงเดือนกันยายน ที่เมืองนาโงย่า ประเทศญี่ปุ่น โดยจะมุ่งเน้นไปที่เสือภูเขาครอสคันทรี่ เนื่องจากในกีฬาเอเชียนเกมส์มีชิงเหรียญทองเฉพาะครอสคันทรี่ชาย-หญิง ส่วนเสือภูเขาดาวน์ฮิลทางเจ้าภาพไม่จัด คาดว่าอาจจะเกรงกลัวนักปั่นไทยทั้ง จ.อ.หญิง วิภาวี ดีคาบาเลส และ นายเมธาสิทธิ์ บุญเสน่ห์ ที่เป็นแชมป์เอเชียติดต่อกันหลายสมัยจะแย่งเหรียญทองไปครอง

General Decha added that the Cycling Association of Thailand, in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (THPF) and the Khao Phraya Doen Thong Subdistrict Municipality, will be organizing the "Bike for Life-TCA GREEN CYCLING" event on Saturday, February 21st, in front of the Khao Phraya Doen Thong Subdistrict Municipality. The event will cover a distance of 7 kilometers round trip and supports green sports activities, emphasizing environmental conservation, pollution reduction, waste reduction, and mitigating global warming. Furthermore, the Cycling Association of Thailand, in partnership with THPF, will be launching a campaign against e-cigarettes, which are spreading among teenagers and youth and pose health risks to the respiratory system and may cause cancer. This campaign will be broadcast live on Facebook Live: Thailand Cycling Association and YouTube: TCA Channel starting at 2:30 PM.
"Mayor Tee" Surasak Jermsom, Mayor of Khao Phraya Denthong Subdistrict Municipality, revealed that the municipality has coordinated with the technical team of the Cycling Association of Thailand in planning the race route. They have also held meetings with police and public health officials, as well as volunteer rescue foundations and civil defense units, to plan operations during the competition to ensure maximum safety for the athletes. Having previously organized the "Thailand Open" cycling competition, they are confident that all relevant agencies understand the operational plans. The people of Phatthananikhom District are also ready to warmly welcome cyclists from all over the country. The downhill mountain bike course will be beautiful and challenging for the competitors.
For the third competition at Khao Phraya Doen Thong Municipality, the Cycling Association of Thailand will be live-streaming the mountain bike downhill race on Facebook Live: Thailand Cycling Association and TCA Channel, as well as YouTube: TCA Channel on Friday, March 6th at 10:00 AM. This will be followed by a live broadcast of the Bike for Life-TCA GREEN CYCLING event on Saturday, March 7th at 2:30 PM, and a live broadcast of the men's open road race on Sunday, March 8th at 8:00 AM. Cycling fans can follow the competitions on these dates and times.
